Following The Pathways of SEO Copywriting (Join in the Fun!)

by admin on January 9, 2009

(Please note the legaleese:  This is not a sales gimmic and should not be construed as such.  Interviewed business owners will not be approached to hire our SEO services, and none are paying to be interviewed.  If you wish to discuss our services or an optimization campaign, please do so AFTER the interview is concluded.)

SEO copywriting can be fun and interesting.  To be a good copywriter, especially for optimization, I believe it’s essential that you know what you’re writing about.  If you’re lucky, you already know the topic.  If not, it means research.

Now, researching about topics of interest is easy.  You have your keywords, you know about the company, you’re interested in what you’re learning and writing – good SEO copywriting.  It’s not all fun in the sun, however.  Some topics can be just plain boring to research (not to mention hard to write) if you have no interest in what you’re researching.

Therefore, I can barely contain my excitement with a new project.  I’m actually looking forward to the research!

Update on project!

The purpose behind this project has changed.  We’re looking for business owners – small, large or in between – who love what they do and like helping people.  Over the next several months (maybe years if it goes well!), Best SEO Copywriter will be writing feature articles and/or blogs on various businesses.  The companies get free exposure, a link back to their site and a way to reach out to the public.

The premise for business owners:

There’s a lot of negative press, especially now, about business owners.  You get free, positive exposure and a chance to have your say.

The premise for readers:

Because of the type of business owners I’m looking for, you’ll get to read about real, down-to-earth people that love what they do.  You don’t have to be stuck in a rut in a job you hate, as these business owners will be able to show you.  Maybe you’ll get to read about a company in your town that you never knew existed and have been looking for!

The premise for us:

Best SEO Copywriter gets to build up a bunch of samples for potential clients.  I get to sharpen my interviewing skills and, since I’m a tad bit idealistic, maybe change the negative views of the general public towards business owners.

Here is your chance to contribute to something exciting and do a good deed along the way.  If you own a business, know someone who does or have a business to recommend, Best SEO Copywriter is interested.

The prerequisites:

Here’s the catch.  I’m looking for a specific type of business owner, although not a specific type of business.  Here’s the list:

  • They love what they do
  • They help people, either through charitable acts or in the course of their business.
  • Money can be a motivator, but it doesn’t have to be the MAIN motivator.  If you go above and beyond to help your clients, no matter what it is you do, I’d like to hear from you.  If you’re a client of a business that has done this for you, I’d like to hear from you.

Contact us by email at or comment on this blog to nominate a company.

I’d like to nominate Seattle Chocolate Company as a candidate for your project. This Seattle-based manufacturing company creates premium chocolates and truffles for chocolate-loving women and the people who love them around the nation.

This is a $10 million company that enjoys distribution in well over 8,000 retail stores and offers the convenience of online shopping at

The company has earned editorial attention in magazines such as O The Oprah Magazine, Success, More, and Essence and would be delighted to move up the food chain to earn the consideration of even more chocolate loving women — and the people who love them — all across the nation.

You can visit the company’s website and online press room to learn more about the products, the unfolding success story in the local and national media, and get to know CEO Jean Thompson.

By the way, the company donates 100% of the net profits from the sale of Extreme Dark Chocolate Truffle Bar and Survivor Chick Chocolates to women’s cancer charities. This is a company that makes it a practice to demonstrate good deeds, while bringing “What Happiness Tastes Like™” to a chocolate loving nation.

I’d be happy to set up interviews or provide additional background to support your research and reporting. Thank you for your consideration.

Update: This client’s project has been closed. However, I will still be looking over nominations for companies to write featured stories on. They will be posted here instead, under a separate category.

Nancy, that sounds like an excellent company to write about, thank you for the nomination. Could you please email me with your email address and, if you know, what the company might want to be the main focus of the article?
